Index attribute pandas

Pandas Dataframe type has two attributes called ‘columns’ and ‘index’ which can be used to change the column names as well as the row indexes. Changing the column name and row index using df.columns and df.index attribute. In order to change the column names, we provide a Python list containing the names for column df.columns= After generating pandas.DataFrame and pandas.Series, you can set and change the row and column names by updating the index and columns attributes. Let us first load pandas . 1. 2. # import pandas. pandas provides a suite of methods in order to have purely label based indexing. This is a strict inclusion based protocol. Every label asked for must be in the index, or a KeyError will be raised. When slicing, both the start bound AND the stop bound are included, if present in the index. pandas.Index¶ class pandas.Index [source] ¶ Immutable ndarray implementing an ordered, sliceable set. Pandas provide various methods to have purely label based indexing. When slicing, the start bound is also included. Integers are valid labels, but they refer to the label and not the position..loc() has multiple access methods like − A single scalar label; A list of labels; A slice object; A Boolean array Pandas DataFrame index and columns attributes allow us to get the rows and columns label values. We can pass the integer-based value, slices , or boolean arguments to get the label information. Table of Contents
